I've noticed Ubuntu Certifications recently, but glancing at this in the past, I thought it was just kinda about how to install Ubuntu, use command-line, setup an Ubuntu server, etc...usual IT stuff. But, it's branching out into Database, Presentation, etc, too.

I'm one of those folks who earns his living more from his certifications than from a degree (just completed all my certs for MS Office 2003 yesterday), so I was wondering if anyone was going to pursue Ubuntu certs? Why? Why not? Which ones?

I personally think Ubuntu-specific certs are a bit extreme. I think Linux certs would be more fundamental and acceptable. However, I also realize that non-technical corporate folks may not know Ubuntu is Linux, and thus a Linux cert not only covers Ubuntu, but everything Linux. Instead, they think Ubuntu is its own animal, and even if you have a Linux cert, you aren't Ubuntu certified, so you can't get hired. (IE: nit-picky HR bs...)

What's your take on this?

How much do the certification exams cost?
