BsC + experiance or MsC ???

Hi guys

i would like to ask for your opinion.
i am doing a 3year BsC (Bachelor) computer programming degree
after it i could do a 2 year MsC(Master) degree..

so my question would be..
is a BsC + experiance ( go working for that 2 year :) )
better or a MsC degree ????

because i was just courius about jobs and did a search
and i haven't found a place where they would ask for a MsC...

IMHO, a degree without experience is worth very little. I would certainly recommend you get some experience as soon as you can. You can always go back and get an MSC later, and maybe get your employer to help with funding if you need it for your job. What sort of field are you looking to go into?

java programming
mostly J2EE , but desktop java is fine too :)

here in Hungary we can only choose between .NET of Java
if we want a good job ( well they still use c++ but i like java more )

there are 4 reason i choose Java:
- i have great fun learning it
- open source
- the other choice is c#.NET and i don't love M$ too much
- there are a lot of resoucers to learn from


Luckaly we have a school organization which can help IT students
to get programming experiance while learning :)

Have you contributed to any open source java projects? That would be a great way to get some experience, and have the proof that you can use your skills.

nope i haven't yet ...
right now i'm sharpening my low level Java skills
and after it i will try to find a project to contribute too :D

With an MsC in computer science, chances of not finding a job are very low, as far as I know.
You'll be able to do both the jobs of a BsC and an MsC.
And you'll be "higher at the top" of the food chain, so to say (which should keep you safer from outsourcing and such).

I would definitely go for the MSc. I always think that you will work for the rest of your life, while actually being able to study something in depth only happens whilst you are on university.

To get experience it is certainly a good idea to sharpen your software skills with some real world experience, but internships and open source projects are great for that. The best way to learn a language is by immersing yourself in it, so go read other peoples source code and analyse how they solved some problems.
