View Full Version : Gnome-based (GTK) Alternative to OOO/Abiword?

I'm really frustrated with both these programs, they're just far too finicky. OOO has no 'paste unformatted' and if I'm, for example, copying pages from Questia into an OOO document, it reads content pages and footnotes as tables, and then gets itself into a horrible mess with text squeezed into all these little columns and the layout just shot all to hell. Abiword, on the other hand, has a 'paste unformatted', but it seems awfully prone to crashing, plus even with the aforementioned feature it sometimes persists in formatting the anything after say a bolded header, as bold text, etc. So, to that end, does anyone know of any alternatives besides the likes of KWord?

To paste unformated text in OOo, use the 'Paste special' option in the Edit menu. Or you can use Ctrl+Shift+V.

Does this solve your problem?
