How do we know if our CPU's and chipsets are being used correctly and at the maximum performance possible? I'm new to understanding how hardware works as far as CPU controlling and all that. Is it done on the hardware level, maybe on the mobo? What about ethernet ports? I know there is a controller in the motherboard but you still (usually) need drivers. Are kernel modules and inkernel drivers as good as the ones the manufactuer make?
