I played with SLED a bit in the last few days and I have to say that I really like the clean interface of it. Okay, the control cener seems to crowded, but other than that it surpasses Feisty UI-wise.

gnome-main-menu is a real pleasure to work with and the integration of Beagle is perfect.

Moreover I wish Ubuntu would replace Rythmbox with Banshee. It feels a lot more modern (have to admit this to be very subjective) and seems to get along faster in development.

To sum it up: I have been a Ximian/Helix fanboy back when they existed as a company of its own and have to admit that they did a great job reducing the Gnome desktop to a powerful yet intuitive and flexible tool. I wish Ubuntu would evolve in that way for the standard desktop. (I know you can tweak it to look like sled)

I know that you mean, I used sled 10 for a month or so and I have to agree seemed to me a very polished and well put together distro. I liked what they've done with gnome. I'm curious how sled 11 will be...

You can have a very nice custom GNOME menu thanks to the devs at Linux Mint. Just find and enable their repos and add the mintmenu. This may require that you add a couple other Mint utilities, but it'll take next to no disk space. MintMenu for 2.2 is compatible with Feisty, although I'm curious for what sort of mintMenu they've cooked up for 3.0.
