I haven't played Myst in forever, but it didn't run very well with Wine when I tried it a little while back.
Instead, does anyone know of a similar game that's actually made for Linux?

it would be great if someone could write an engine to make these sorts games in linux. it could also be used to make interactive educational software.

maybe some sort of open format could be designed for it. it needs to be broken down in to pages, and the links between pages. each page is made up of still images and video files with active areas.

then we would need a viewer, and a creator program. the creator would need to be usable by people who could write stories and make artwork.

why is everyone looking at me. i already have programming projects for the summer. :-)

Sounds like a good idea to me, but first I need to learn the whole programming part...

Checkout Oger3D. You write the game in C. Linux Format had some really good articals on using it and there is a book about it at amazon.com.

It seems like I got Myst to work in Wine a while back. I don't remember exactly how, though. I think it had something to do with installing an older version of quicktime.

Edit:
I've done some checking, and I think I'm wrong. This is how I got Myst to work in Vista. I don't think I ever got it working in Linux.

The Clockwork Man game series is similar to Myst and is completely cross-platform.

Archaeology is an exciting and noble thing, except when digging up old threads from the past on forums.
