I could tell you, but then I'd have to...well, do a Google search.

Care to start us out there ol' chap? :D

Actually, for me it's pretty simple, been using "intangible" as my screen name everywhere for about 4 years now, it's simple, fairly unique, and is great for FPS's when I keep DESTROYING ALL THOSE WHO OPPOSE ME!! seemingly out of nowhere .

As for my avatar, who here doesn't think Stewie is the best? My GF tells me I'm a bit like him :D, the little guy is my hero.

BTW, keep an eye out for me on UT2004 guys, 64.169.214.35:7777 "{WW} Onslaught" server... but I don't get to play as much anymore.

Well, I guess I'll change my avatar back to where it belongs before I post here. I've had a little bit of an identity crisis as of late. Anyways, my name is skoal, and I looooove dippin' worm dirt baby! Yes, sir indeedy! I do so looooooove the taste of tobacco as it slides down my throat giving it a nice shiny coat, kind of like waxing your car. One of my favorite things to do while I was in the Army was spitting Skoal on my combat boots to give 'em a nice mirror like shine. When I cut myself accidentally, I just spit on it to seal it right up! Yes, sir! What can't skoal do? Hell, down here in Texas we spit tobacco on our younguns foreheads to baptize 'em. That's how we roll...

I choose Barney from the Simpsons since: 1. I hang out bars and other 'houses of ill repute', 2. have the bedside manners of Barney, and 3. slip a bottle of Shiner Bock in my hand and you can beat me to a pulp as I guzzle it down for all I care...oh...and 4. I have been known to make a concrete curb into a "pillow" before...

Yeah, Stewie is great. I used a quote from him in my sig line. My screen name is easy, first name plus last initial. My avatar is Err from ATHF. I love ATHF and think that the mooninites are hilarious.

Ride Jib
June 25th, 2005, 01:24 AM
"Jib", not to be confused with the Jib-sail of a sailboat, in my context means a style of snowboarding, typically urban riding. Similar to skateboarding etc on the streets, Performing "rail slides" on objects such as tables, hand rails, bent over trees.

And "Ride", well... double meaning... obviously "go riding" [again in the context of snowboarding] but more specifically, the company who makes my board is called "Ride." In my opinion, they are the best damn boards on the market.

ATHF? Is that anime or something? I never heard of it.

Everytime I saw your avatar carl, I thought it was one of those space invader characters that skipped across the top of the screen, from the vintage coin-op console days.

That's cool. I used to skate but have not had as much luck snowboarding. I ski occasionally.

Mine's part an old nickname my daughter gave me. I used to use it at suseforums.net then changed to my real name for a while, before arriving here and switching back

My avatar is a snap of a beautiful old tree called Gandalf's Staff, which was recently saved in Tasmania's wilderness (Australia) from loggers. I'm a Green and it seemed like a natural choice.

Kapre
June 25th, 2005, 01:42 AM
Heellllooo!!

I'd like to share mine too.. Name "Kapre" is from Southeast Asia (you can google it too). Was called that name when I was a teenager (cause stories of old said my grannies area is where this is often seen).

My avatar is from my favorite anime Voltes V [five] (which some of you most probably dont recognize - meaning I'm already old).

That's all folks!

Yep...and to think that before after watching those episodes I will discuss it with my classmates the next morning. Now I'm just telling stories of this anime (together with Star Rangers, Star Blazers..etc) to my kids [because they only know Yugioh, Beyblade, Pokemon...]

Well, mines fairly simple... because I don't like making up names that I will want to change later, I would try to just get my first name, "jake", except I made a typo one day, and found out that "jzke" isn't really taken anywhere...

primeirocrime
June 25th, 2005, 04:43 AM
start diatribe [humorous?]
my screen name means first crime [primeiro being first and crime...well being crime]

crime is dissent and I am for that. no constitution and no code of law that steps on other humans.

I'm an anarchist since I remember and my screen name is about the first crime:
birth in a land that is not free and that forces us to buy the space where we live.

enough of the anarchism and "isms"

my avatars are hand drawn by me [hands and head] and belong to my personal hell . soon I'll post my favorite that is called [i]Satan's hemroid and I think that clearly defines me as a troubled person although I'm wonderfull in a party and I purr like a cute kitten if and only if we do NOT discuss politics, religion or art. Sports trivia and the like and I'm the jolly punk you allways wanted.

end of diatribe. [vaguely]

weekend warrior
June 26th, 2005, 09:43 AM
Three reasons for "weekend warrior" - none related to a wrestler or Iron Maiden song (sorry to disappoint anyone).

1. Weekends are when I simply have more free time to muck around and "battle" with linux.

2. I have a habit of picking up injuries in weekend sports. Come Monday, sometimes look like I've been through a war!

3. It's a play on words, which I like doing - "weakened warrior". My old avatar showed this more clearly.

http://img79.echo.cx/img79/2928/zuconq9yd.png

I may go back to a more obvious warrior avatar at some point, any suggestions?

Hmm, mine was just something I picked up from Dune about the fast and deadly "coriolis storms" on the planet. I was like "hey, that's kind of cool." My friends hate to see me coming in Halo and the like, so it fits quite well for me. I like to sneak a lot too on the games, so usually they never know what hit 'em, so that fits too. The avatar was just something I found on google one day. I'll put a decent one up there before too long.

In case anyone is interested.....
Name: Tristan Mike was the name I gave the Prince of my city when I played Vampire, he was, of course, was a vampire mage. I always thought the name kinda fit together when you said it, I might use it as a stage name, I've been debating it..

Avatar: I've kinda always related to Ren. He has always been a little on the edgy side, and a little crazy too, which is probably why he has so many hobbies (like his collection of rare incureable deseases), even though he may seem mean on the surface, to Stimpy in general, deep inside, he's just a kind hearted asthma-hound chihuahua who loves his buddies. He of course is pondering this little thing called Ubuntu Linux and doesn't know quite what to make of it. ;-)

Its better to play it emulated inside Ubuntu.

My avitar is Brian from family. I picked it because he is sassy....and I have a tendancy to offend people. I hoped that my avitar would excuse some of my antics.

My name is Aaron Toponce, thus the nick. Boring, I know, but using handles just never suited me very well. Maybe it is because I couldn't come up with anything decent.

My avatar seems to change with the seasons. Right now, it is just an image of Jesus' birth with the Ubuntu Logo behind. I just did a Google Image search for Ubuntu Christmas. I don't have Gimp skills, and I'm not creative enough to come up with one on my own.

prizrak
December 13th, 2005, 04:29 PM
The name means ghost in Russian. Reason behind it is that my friends always complain that I'm too stealthy when I move around so they never see/hear me comming so I'm like a ghost :)
Avatar is a picture of a turbocharger, I love turbocharged cars, that boost and the BOV sound are addictive.

arpunk
December 13th, 2005, 04:34 PM
My nick is a mix between ARP (http://www.faqs.org/rfcs/rfc826.html) and punk meaning sorta like anarchy, which was the name of a complete ARP testing framework im coding with a friend (a bit delayed but we still are :P), and i liked the name so i choose it as my nick. And the avatar... well, the avatar...

Gustav
December 13th, 2005, 04:48 PM
My name is Gustav (yes I'm not that funny)

And I'm a socialist (hence the red flag) who likes free software (hence Tux).

The avatar is actually from the chinese Red Flag Linux distro. It's a little complicated cause I don't like the way China is run, but it was such a nice looking logo.

My signature is from the movie "Hackers" and it's quite similar to the last line in the Communist Manifesto (just change hackers to workers)

TeeAhr1
December 13th, 2005, 05:06 PM
TeeAhr1 = T R 1 = The Risen One.

And no, it's not a Jesus thing.

I've survived a lot of things that tend to kill people. Car wrecks. Homelessness. Drug addiction. A particularly vicious beating in high school in which I was bounced off a radiator (thirteen stitches, I have a small dent in my skull just above the hairline). I adopted Risen1 (and variations thereof) because that's how I've come to feel, like I have been spared by $DEITY, like I have literally risen from the dead.

You can look for me as Risen888 on Slashdot, TheRisen1 on Plastic, and TeeAhr1 just about everywhere else.

tabinin
December 13th, 2005, 06:02 PM
Tabinin (旅人 means "traveler" or "traveling person" in Japanese. (tabi = travel, nin = person -- tabibito is the more common reading of the word, but it was taken when I signed up for gmail.) I love to travel and also think life is a journey.

My avatar is from a skater magazine from about 1995. It cracks me up every time I look at it. My wife won't let me put up the picture I cut out of the magazine (she is the wiser one), so I scanned it. What's funnier than a dude skating down the street reading a magazine on a toilet???

Hopefully it hasn't offended anyone....

TDThe easiest way is to use GIMP to make an image that is 90 pixels x 90 pixels. Then upload it using the link in User CP.

Dr. Nick
December 13th, 2005, 06:43 PM
Mine is from the Simpsons, I would use his whole name, Dr. Nick Riviera, but thats just to long lol so I cut it short. Dr. Nick is just one of my favorite characters, he his hilarious, and my avatar I just got from a google search, It was from a flashback to his days at med school he had when he was studying surgery using a tape he rented from the library just before he preformed a tripple-bypass on Homer.

When I drop into IRC I go by TodFlanders since someone beat me to Dr. Nick. Ill have to wait for it to expire and try again.

Goddess_of_Linux

Washu is the exact character I am. I am a person that would blow up a computer just to see how many pieces it make. I would break the OS or any program on it, just to see how stable and secure it is... So in some ways I am a little computer scientist.

"The best scientist in the galaxy..."

5-HT
December 13th, 2005, 07:08 PM
Screen name (boring, I know):

Just a reminder for me not to invest too fully into current trends of explanatory nature.

5-HT is shorthand for Serotonin (5-hydroxytriptamine), a monoamine neurotransmitter currently inextricably linked to psychopathologies (particularly anxiety and depression).

[rant]

While it no doubt is a major participant in such affective disorders, I find (well then again, who am I to even suppose enough knowledge to even question this?) that currently, It's become too central to such theories; with the plethora of other (possible) ligands being relatively ignored.

Basically, I'm just a little scared with the hype that Serotonin's received in in terms of its "absolute" modulation of such phenomena.
It's a warning for me to never close my view on things.

[/ rant]

*note to self: come up with better screen names.

LoclynGrey
December 13th, 2005, 07:22 PM
LoclynGrey:
I've got the habit of walking into a business and helping out by identifying problems in their systems and fixing them. I originally did this years ago for my wifes friends florist business where her friend was struggling due to lack of basic business systems of which i took over, rebuilt or put in place and then handed back over. She dubbed me LoclynGrey Associates, my fictitious entity. I then went on to help out other businesses etc.
The name sort of stuck.

bonzodog
December 13th, 2005, 07:32 PM
Well..Bonzodog comes from the UK band of the seventies (Showing my age), the 'Bonzodog Doo Dah Band'. I first used it on CB in the 80's and carried it over when I started on the Internet.

Edit: I changed my avatar; that is a toon from an art site I like. It's called 'Trendwhore'.

The Mekon
December 14th, 2005, 12:05 AM
Back in the early 1950's (yes I really am that old) I worked in a drawing office and used a lamp to illuminate my board which, due to its green shade, cast a green glow all over me.

My workmates said that it made me look like a comic character "The Mekon" akna "The Little Green Man From Mars" This became my nickname for many years.

stuporglue
December 14th, 2005, 12:21 AM
I needed a unique name for my website, and somehow came up with Stuporglue. It's a mix of stupor, as in "stupor of thought", and suporglue, which is an awesome tool. I've been trying to find some clever phrase about sticking my thoughts together, to use as a tagline on my webpages, but haven't come up with one yet. And it's been over a year.

The avitar is a glue bottle, because I couldn't draw a good superglue tube in Inkscape.

My sites are stuporglue.com and stuporglue.org. Stuporglue.org is the more interesting of the two, at the moment.

Nequeo
December 14th, 2005, 03:23 AM
Well... Nequeo is Latin. I don't actually speak any Latin, so I'm not too clear on the meaning or pronounciation. But I have a vague idea that it means 'to be impossible'.

I picked it as a teenager, by doing random searches through an English to Latin dictionary, until I found something with a nice ring to it, that wasn't in common gamer lexicon (like 'Invictus'). I use it mostly because it's an actual, real, word that sounds like a name, and is never taken on any boards/forums/games/birth certificates.

My avatar is just a crop from a photo I took in Antartica. They're adelie penguins, and they are indeed very cute. But one thing that no Linux distro will teach you about penguins, is that they stink!

Hygelac

'fuscia' comes from when i used to be known as 'iamfuscia' which was a napster shortened version of the sequal to the infamous 60's swedish movie 'i am curious yellow', known as 'i am curious fuchsia'. My name originally was made 8 years ago when I was 13 :)

Tried to call myself "metalhead" on the ol' napster p2p networks (near on my first major dabbling with the internet), however it was taken everywhere, so I simply thought it would be cool (being 13 at the time!) to change letters to numbers.

However I wasnt much into 1337speak back then so ended up misspelling my damn nickname.

It actually reads Metathead :D. but you only need to do a google search to see that I have used it so much and have a massive trail of history behind it that if I changed it now to something a bit more grown up then everyone I ever knew on the net wouldnt know who the hell I am :D

My userID: greenwom is a crappy login name from work, we had logins assigned and since I couldn't fight it I started to use it for web accounts on obscure that I never use. Then it started to stick. I though about a change but hey...... I'd forget my login

niobe_logos
December 14th, 2005, 07:08 PM
My avatar and nick are based on Niobe, Captain of the ship Logos, who appears in Matrix: Reloaded and Matrix Revolutions. Sure, she'll follow orders from the menfolk--including her husband--but if she thinks something else is more important, she'll do that, and orders be damned. And if the something else includes kicking butts around or blowing stuff up or flying her ship along along a route no other captain will fly, well...that's what happens.

What I think the average Linux user's attitude is about using operating systems, generally. You can use Windows or Mac off the shelf, if you want, or you can find a LInux distro and do things your way.

And yes, I'm a woman of color with a funny-looking hairstyle (dreadlocks).

My name is DiscoKiller, that name has been with me for a few years now ever since i heard a song by an unsigned (now disbanded) group called monkey steals the drum. the tune caught my ear because of the bassline.....it rocks, and i`m a bassist so i appreciate it more than most. So anyway, the tune was called Disco Kill, i figured i`d be the DiscoKiller from then on in, disco_killer@hotmail etc, all my usernames have been disco_killer or a variant.

the avatar is a popular little flash cartoon that can be found on http://www.homestarrunner.com
His name is strong bad and he is awesome......peace out

Oh by the way, if u have two minutes of your life spare can u take it to register a vote in my online poll:

and yeah i know freeservers is crap.

There's not much significance to my username, it's just a word I started using on IRC a few years ago and have used for most things since.

My avatar is of ME-tan (http://www.os-tan.com/) due to my tendancy for absent mindedness (putting a plastic beaker on a bunsen burner, draining pasta over a plate instead of the sink, liberating magic smoke from a variety of components &c).

December 15th, 2005, 03:06 AM
The nick is the letters of my full name. S for the first name and PDL for the three words that make out my last name.

And the avatar... Well, I play CS: Source quite a bit with the headphone/mic and in the Spring/Summer that's what I look like while I play. And I like South Park. So...my wife decided to surprise me one day and make a version of a South Park character of me. So I decided to make it my avatar.

FLeiXiuS
December 15th, 2005, 04:30 AM
Well mine has been FLeiXiuS for over 4 years now. I really love how it sounds. Very exotic ;-P

Fleexy-us. Yeah it's just that cool.

Anyways, my name is basically a random bunch of letters. Then I went ahead and capiltized the consonants. The character in my avatar is actually SPAWN, but I figured it looked more underground if I darkened him out. He looks neato like that. Plus it gives off my online personality quite well.

Master Shake
December 15th, 2005, 05:19 AM
My name AND Avatar are Master Shake from the Cartoon Netwrok / Adult Swim cartoon Aqua Teen Hunger Force. Shake is a "superhero" who posesses aboslutely no work ethic. He's also an *******. He has no real enemies because he doesn't really care.

Although he's tangled it up with Err a few times...

my name: when I made it I was into street magic, and I wanted it to be different so I replaced the g with a j and the c with a k and made it "majikstreet" :)

my avatar: well the new one is just bush with an x thru it... yeah..

zenwhen
December 18th, 2005, 11:21 PM
My avatar is currently a Christmas themed version of a cleaned up version of my first avatar.

This was the original:

http://troymcferron.com/images/zen.gif

It was chosen while I was posting on another set of forums. The image was chosen as it was a "cute" image that clashed with the posts and attitude that I contributed to their (very confused and often destructively wrong) technical forum. I learned a lot about what can be destructive in a technical community there and that learning experience has been very helpful to me in my current role as a staff member here.

When I came here I wanted something cleaner and nicer to go with my cleaner, nicer attitude.

A very talented friend came up with this:

http://troymcferron.com/images/minizen.png

That's the story of my avatar. :)

Table Mountain - where I'm from - as Mark grew up not far from me, so I feel ubuntu has a strong link with SA, so homegrown seemed appropriate. --- nothing to do with the Hydroponics in my basement ofcourse!

Bladerunner
December 31st, 2005, 01:05 PM
Picked Bladerunner for my screenname because I'm a knife collector and the movie by the same name is one of my favorites.
My avatar is one of the knives in my collection, a Reese Weiland Rastor with damascus blade and mammoth ivory scales.

December 31st, 2005, 06:19 PM
When I was about 14 I used "pokey" as a nick. Wishing to put this nick (far!) behind me, and not feeling particularly creative, I used "lauralee" - a similar nick to my name.

As for the avatar, its the picture on the last page of The Little Prince: "This is, to me, the loveliest and saddest landscape in the world."

truthfatal
December 31st, 2005, 06:55 PM
I use truthfatal because it's the only screen name I've ever used.

It's simply a reference to the fact that people die for their 'truths' far more often than they should.

@yozef: why do you keep on making these interesting topics, to which I couldn't but help reply? :D

Anyway, my avatar's name is CatPak a play on the words "Cat" and "Pack". Why he's named like that or what's his purpose is a long story. Suffice it to say that I like cats. :D

Media: Original sketch was drawn by hand, scanned, and made entirely in Inkscape. He is 100% vector graphics (SVG). Of course, I had to export into PNG. :D
Artist: (ahem) Me. :p

Here he is, together with two other poses.

Not really a long story. CatPak is a part of a "system" I'm developing for my computer. This system is heavily influenced by an anime (Japanese animation/cartoons) I've seen, and relies heavily on SuperKaramba and themes. I would gladly try to "port" it to GNOME, if only I could find a gDesklet tutorial that "just works".

The name of the project is C.A.T.S. (ok so I'm obsessed with cats), which stands for Customized Avatar Terminal System. It's still in Alpha now, so I can't release other info. If I did, then I'd have to kill you. :D

Thanks for the compliment.

Oh, btw, I thought your avatar was Dapper Drake.

Mine is a vector rendering of a PeaceKeeper. For awhile, many people in these forums were using customized Power-Puff Girl type characters, so I thought it would be fun to mimic the style with a character of my own.

I love my Peacekeepers. I was offered a full page spot (http://www.weeklyhilarity.com/images/comics/nightbeat.gif) last year where I decided to use them and it won me one o' them A-wards (http://www.orenews.com/Contests/2006/cnc/webhtml/cnc-1+2-19-1.html)(!). Before that they've appeared sporatically (http://www.weeklyhilarity.com/images/vanguard/robutts.jpg) over the years, on t-shirts, and in a larger, never published story.

Here's mine, but it's too large to post here, so I'm giving you all the link: http://robert.wolterman.googlepages.com/mewindtunnel_large.jpg

I didn't have it on my work computer so I had to ssh into my laptop (at home) and then sent an email from the python interpreter to my gmail account since it was faster than trying to open up Firefox through the X11 forwarding.

What it is:
It is me in a wind tunnel at Iowa State University. My friend was running some tests for his senior project and had to get video and I persuaded him to get a picture of me in the wind tunnel as that had been a goal of mine since we as students were able to use them for classes.
The test he was doing was trying to get that shape to produce vertical oscillations. If you look closely, it's not a circle, but has flat sides. Depending on how you have shape oriented, it will either create vertical motion or stay in one place. My friend has video of it moving, but I never got a copy.

Title: His Mind Raced

...unfortunately, it did not race particularly well, and failed to even place at the Cerebral Derby. Dreams of a Triple Crown dashed, and after disappointing showings on several tracks, it was put out to pasture on a ranch out west, where it became a favorite of the ranch hands for its good nature and willingness to gallop. In later years, small children fed it sugar, it had several other brains to loaf around the pasture with, and was probably about as happy as a mind gets. So that worked out.

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/f/f4/The_Scream.jpg/463px-The_Scream.jpg

I was walking along a path with two friends—the sun was setting—suddenly the sky turned blood red—I paused, feeling exhausted, and leaned on the fence—there was blood and tongues of fire above the blue-black fjord and the city—my friends walked on, and I stood there trembling with anxiety—and I sensed an infinite scream passing through nature. -Edvard Munch

In 2003, astronomers (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Astronomers) claimed to have identified the time of the scene depicted in the painting. The volcanic eruption (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Volcano) of Krakatoa (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Krakatoa) in 1883 caused unusually intense (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Afterglow) sunsets (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sunset) throughout Europe in the winter of 1883-4, which Munch captured in his picture.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Scream

It's by Gideon

"Faces with Tears"

from the "Holocaust Collection"

As you look at the faces in Gideon's Holocaust paintings you may notice there is usually one of a child. Gideon relates that everywhere he went there were little children looking up at you with begging eyes. Of course they were hungry, but Gideon felt the hunger went deeper than a bodily need for food. He includes them not only as an unrelenting memory, but as a symbol of hope for the generations to come. http://members.aol.com/gideonet/holocaust.htm

I found some other work by Gideon on The Holocaust Chronicle (http://www.holocaustchronicle.org/) site, that lead me to research his work more. I found this painting especially moving.

Same here.

I only read the Dec 20 update now that you mentioned it as I thought they were ok.

Real shame.

On December 20 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/December_20), 2006 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2006), it was revealed the Scream was permanently damaged beyond repair. After months of examining the painting, experts at the Munch Museum have come to the conclusion that moisture damage meant that the painting could not be restored to its former condition. The Scream has damaged corners and flaking. Moisture damage that caused some discoloration presented the restorers with the greatest challenge and has meant that the painting could not be restored to perfection. The Madonna also requires extensive restoration work. The painting has a tear measuring about 27.5 mm in diameter, another tiny tear in the upper left corner and damage related to a broken canvas stretcher frame.

It's just a grainy still from an old B-movie (http://www.avclub.com/content/node/23992), but I think the atmosphere really suits the title and mood of the record.

Tyche
January 14th, 2007, 08:27 PM
Use name: Tyche

Tyche was a cat, Siamese Sealpoint, that originally belonged to my daughter. The cat would jump on my lap to be petted, then bite me when I did so. I warned my daughter that either she would have to disciplin the cat or I would: and if I did, she would loose the cat. She didn't. I did (over the course of about 3 weeks, simply by not letting her up on my lap for a week after she bit me). At the end of 3 weeks, the cat would jump on my lap at any excuse, especially if I was at the computer.

When I first connected to the internet, the ISP asked me for a use name. As my wife and I had a tendency to use the names of our cats for one thing or another (at one time we had 13 cats), the name Tyche simply popped into my head. I've been Tyche ever since.

The graphic was originally a MS clipart, in black and white, that I heavily modified. So heavily that at one point passing your cursor over it on a web page caused the cat to bat at it (animated gif). I no longer have that version, and the graphic has since been re-modified.

The full frame is of when Jean Grey first meets the Hank (Beast), during when she was meeting the rest of the original X-Men. Even though she was really the first X-Men, but that's besides the point. Everyone was drooling over Jean and to welcome her to the team, pre-blue Hank gives very angry Jean a kiss on the cheek. I just love her face in that. It's like when you dress up a cat.

I also posted the next frame, where Jean totally pwns Hank. She's friggin' awesome.

I've used my smiley for years... probably back when the internet first started booming. I have designed my avatar for every site I've been on and changed the colors or the depth depending on the site. Originally it started out as a 24x24 black and white gif image. It's probably been remade a few hundred times. Whether it's new hardware, new graphics software, operating system, site colors, or just my mood in general. Anyway, here's the current large rendition along with a base image I start with.

Cheers

Being that I turned 40 this year, I am finally able by Jewish law to study Kabbalah, so in my studies I wanted to use an avatar that I felt had the most meaning for me. I found this image on a Kabbalah site, about Ein-Sof.

http://cafelinux.org/forum/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=211.0;attach=1204; image

Ein-sof
Ein-Sof, the Infinite God, has no static, definable form. Instead, the Kabbalists conceive God, the world and humanity as evolving together through, and thus embodying, a number of distinct stages and aspects, with later stages opposing, but at the same time encompassing, earlier ones. The Kabbalistıs God is both perfectly simple and infinitely complex, nothing and everything, hidden and revealed, reality and illusion, creator of man and created by man,. As Ein-Sof evolves it is progressively revealed as "nothing whatsoever" (Ayin), the totality of being, the Infinite Will (Ratzon) , Thought and Wisdom, the embodiment of all value and significance (the Sefirot (http://www.newkabbalah.com/sefirot.html)), the wedding of male and female, and ultimately the union of all contradictions. Ein-Sof is both the totality of this dialectic and each of the points along the way. Ein-Sof must be constantly redefined, as by its very nature, it is in a constant process of self-creation and redefinition. This self-creation is actually embodied and perfected in the creativity of humanity, who through practical, ethical, intellectual and spiritual activities, strives to redeem and perfect a chaotic, contradictory and imperfect world.
The Kabbalists used a variety of negative epistemological terms to make reference to the hidden God; "the concealment of secrecy", "the concealed light", "that which thought cannot contain" etc. (Gershom Scholem, Kabbalah, p. 88 ) each of which signifies that this God is somehow beyond human knowledge and comprehension. However, there are other terms, e.g., "Root of all roots", "Indifferent Unity", "Great Reality," (Scholem. Major Trends, p. 12) "Creator," "Cause of Causes" and "Prime Mover" (as well as the term, Ein-Sof, "without end") which signify that God is the origin of the world, the reality of the world, or the totality of all things. Yet in spite of the positive connotations, even those Kabbalists who utilized such terms held that they referred to a God who is completely unknowable and concealed. Of this God, the proto-Kabbalistic work,Sefer Yetzirah had earlier said "restrain your mouth from speaking and your heart from thinking, and if your heart runs let it return to its place" (Sefer Yetzirah. I. 8, as translated in Tishby, The Wisdom of the Zohar. Vol , 1 p 234).
As explained in Symbols of the Kabbalah, Chapter Two, Ein-sof provides a rational/spiritual answer to the questions "Why is there anything at all?" and "What is the meaning of human life?" Ein-sof begets a world so that He, as the source of all meaning and value, can come to know Himself, and in order for His values, which in Him exist only in the abstract, can become fully actualized in humanity. Ein-sof is both the fullness of being and absolute nothingness, but is not complete in its essence until He is made real through the spiritualizing and redemptive activity of mankind. Ein-sof is mirrored in the heart and soul of man, but, more importantly, He is actualized in man's deeds.
Ein-sof is discussed in detail throughout Symbols of the Kabbalah (http://www.newkabbalah.com/books.html), but in particular in Chapter 2, pp. 60-119). Ein-sof is discussed in relation to Brahman in Hinduism, the Pleroma in Gnosticism, the One and the Good in Plato and Plotinus, the Absolute in Hegel, and the unconscious in Freud and Jung, in Kabbalistic Metaphors (http://www.newkabbalah.com/books.html). Daniel Matt has written a scientifically oriented introduction to Ein-sof appears in Tikkun Magazine and is excerpted from his book God and the Big Bang (http://www.tikkun.org/9609/matt.html).
The Lurianic Kabbalah is treated in detail in Sanford Drob's Symbols of the Kabbalah (http://www.newkabbalah.com/books.html) and Kabbalistic Metaphors (http://www.newkabbalah.com/books.html).

Skull is on my right shoulder, dragon on my left. Soon, very very soon, I will have at least one more to add to my collection.

I'm going to do a tribute to the late Dimebag...

This is the original done by DEAN Guitars:
http://img100.imageshack.us/img100/5466/crestmainxs1.th.jpg (http://img100.imageshack.us/my.php?image=crestmainxs1.jpg)

and this is kinda my hacked version that I want without the shield and wings, it looks really bad now, but it'll look awesome on me when it's done.
http://img100.imageshack.us/img100/2668/tat1st9.th.jpg (http://img100.imageshack.us/my.php?image=tat1st9.jpg)

Eventually, when I get myself in shape and get the money, I want to do a gargoyle on my back. I need to get an artist to do it though because I want to try and keep tribal on one side of my body and "modern" on the other side and have the garoyle be where it all meets with it's wings open and the bottom in stone. It's kinda hard to explain, but it's another one of those "looks cool in my head" things LOL.

So yea, I'm into tattoos, which is why it's my avatar. But music is even bigger in my life besides tattoos, hence the name SLAYERboy
