This is all the info you need, really. . .from the forum Heading:

Welcome to the Social Forums a community for social discussions of politics, religion, goverment, the internet and life.

It's just a forum, run by our own Ubuntu-Geek, where folks can discuss the stuff mentioned above. Simple as that.

Fair enough.

@ ubuntu geek: could you tell us a little about your plans with the new forum? is it hosted by you? who are the mods? does it have anything to do with ubuntuforums other then both are run by you? is it there to replace the backyard?

Its actually for a new Distro . Social Linux.

It is going to be marketed initially by the Party Plan. Hence the name Social Linux. Its the Linux to bring people together.

The plan is to spread it through out the Suburbs of the World. Then to be the Distro of choice for Dell , Lenovo , HP and Acer.

Through parties the distro will be brought to the World then take over the Linux market share and eventually be the only Linux Distro.

Through Social engineering , Social Linux will run the Planet.

There are really no plans, just another place to hang out and post about stuff that doesn't really have a place on this forum. As for the mods, some of the staff here volunteered. No it has nothing to do with ubuntuforums and isn't going to replace anything on this forum. :)

No, the site is not related to this site and will replace nothing here. It's just a means to discuss a more broad range of topics.

Zdravko: this new forum is nothing to do with ubuntu or canonical in any way. It is a completely seperate personal project of ubuntugeeks, to run a forum that isn't subject to so many demands and things like the CoC.

I just wanted to say, that placing the invitation with bright colors on top of this forum is a sign of bad taste. Don't you think ubuntu-geek just wants to have 2 large forums? It is a matter of growth and power. I don't think this is a "social" solution. A "social" forum means that people can join it, but without feeling obliged to do so. With the invitation above I feel as if I have to join these forums. But I don't want to. Reason - I already made my registration here. I don't see any real need to register myself again in a place, where users are the same as here.

Hey everyone, the social discussion forum is totally world knowledged based, and your missing out by not stopping in, you may learn something, maybe spill a little heat, or vastly have a new experience about life in general as to the different takes on what makes the world go around. Its presently down for the moment but what site does not do that from time to time, meanwhile, get in there and hear the different views, you will be amazed.

Is Social Discussions a for profit website? I think its a great idea I just not sure its link belongs at the bottom of the forums. especially since they are now affiliated with Ubuntu.
