How about creating an e-group for San Diego Team? Perhaps Googlegroups would be fine.. so that announcements and meetings can be set and announced easily.

Once the Launchpad is in place with all the proper admin abilities, then it shouldnt be hard to set up a subgroup Mailing List just for meetings.
