MaximumPC ran another article encouraging readers to try Ubuntu. I don't know if this is good or bad :)

Might see a small pop in "Absolute Beginner" posts.

They've been doing this more lately. I always try to send them an e-mail thanking them for the article as well as posting about it here. You beat me to it this time. http://img54.exs.cx/img54/2200/rockon5nk.gif

I brought this up a few weeks ago. http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=408235

So is the article any good? Is it worth buying the mag for?

That sounds pretty cool. In almost every PC mag I have seen(PC Magazine never notices Linux however) they have done a review of Ubuntu Linux.

It was very good in my opinion...

in fact i stole the mag from my son, with his permission of course!
could it be made a sticky in the beginners forum?

I came to ubuntu because of this article. I read it and was like "wow that seems so simple" and it was. So that is +1 ubuntu users from the MaxPC article.

That is a cool article. I should have The Missus read it, as I'm thinking of dragging her into this whole Ubuntu thing with me. I'm getting really sick of Acrobat locking up her laptop when shutting down Windows XP

Try Foxit Reader. It's a very small pdf reader, it comes up really fast, and doesn't hound you for huge updates.

EDIT: And pdfcreator is pretty handy too

Well MaximumPC used to have a sister magazine called MaximumLinux in 2000 2002 I remember buying them when they were available and reading up on them. It might even been earlier than that. I tossed them out later on since they went belly up. The CD's I think I still have around somewhere here though.
