View Full Version : How come Ubuntu does not have a net-install cd option?

A lot of distros have this option, and if you have broadband and don't want to download a whole cd, I think this is a good option for many.

Yes ubuntu does. It's called a MinimalCD

minimal CD image to download packages at install time,
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Installation/MinimalCD

How come they don't show this on the download page? It does on debian's site for example.

They don't want to confuse new users.

Most new users want the Desktop CD. Other immediately available options will just confuse them.
