For those who may not have read about this.

Ubuntu is about to make more head way. Seems Dell has announced that they will be selling systems with Ubuntu 7.04 pre-loaded, and at lower prices than another legacy O$ .....

For further info, you can read the following two articles:

Another great day in Ubuntu land. :)

Great timing. I hope they get them out soon, I'm in need of 2 laptops right now and this seams like the way to go for me right now.

Does this mean Dell will release keyboards with Ubuntu keys?

If they do, I'm buying one on sheer awesome factor.

I've been running Ubuntu on my Dell Inspiron for quite awhile now, glad they are stepping up.

Shocker. I still find it hard to see past all the BS around this agreement, but if it really is MS trying to scare the Linux community into submission due to vague and unspecified IP infringements, it is utterly despicable.

Maybe you should have posted this in the general Café? Now there is an official thread on the subject: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=429657

I hate M$ everyday even more, but now Dell? I really was looking forward to them being more *Unix friendly with their systems and consumers. Now I don't feel to great about supporting them, it would be like supporting M$.

I'm hoping to buy a new laptop for myself and this may just push me over the edge. I have my work laptop but since its work's, I can't mess around with it. :(

If you're in phoenix, look at Fry's electronics. I just bought the wife one, it was an HP but I got it for a really good price and almost everything work perfectly out of the box. I was going to wait so I could buy her a Dell, but after hearing about this, I didn't want to wait anymore.
