okay,
I will start of by writing a little storie:

"Once upon a time Drfalkor installed linux for the first time, it was Fedora Core 2, and he was a happy linux user until FC3/4, then he changed to the first ubuntu version when it came out, and he has been an ubuntu user since he installed Windows XP one year ago because hes other harddrive with ubuntu on crashed, and now he is very sad because he needs windows xp to run photoshop CS2 with a good speed and have the Wacom I3 Pen pressure working nicely! Drfalkor wonderd how he could make PS CS2 nicely under ubuntu linux with the wacom drivers, because now Drfalkor miss he's dear loved ubuntu."

what shall I do ? I feel so frustrated, PS CS2 via wine ? I dont know, I am in a middle of a war, and I cant chose to stay with windows xp or take the risk move over to ubuntu ! :( I could buy another harddrive but I dont have the money and I dont wanna waste time dual booting.

What shall I do

EDIT: I have been thinking for day, and I just cant say no to my PS ! I need that tool so much, digital painting is my passion, and I cant let The Gimp destroy that !

Well if you absolutely can't use GIMP, you can install Photoshop perfectly in wine:

Or a simpler way:

CXoffice does it automatically for you, but it's a 30 day trial

Hmm ok, I'm not sure if that will work, so the last solution is to do something like this:

dual boot seems your most effective option

You could try Inkscape I suppose. It's more akin to Adobe Illustrator than Photoshop, because it's a vector drawing program. However, I've found that it's very nice, and although it doesn't have all the filters and stuff you expect in a raster-based program like Photoshop, you can still get very nice results. It just takes a while to learn how to use it effectively.

Dual booting ? well, Like I said, I dont have money for another harddrive :S But damn, It looks like that I am forced to dual boot ! :(

By the way.. can I use Linux and Windows at the same harddrive ? on another partition ? if so, how can I do it ?

You don't need another harddrive; all you have to do is create a new partition on your current harddisk in Windows and install Ubuntu on it later on.

Or you could use the Ubuntu CD upon computer startup to install the OS... it will offer to partition the hard disk for you. Just to make sure that you are not going to erase any data in Windows, perform a defrag of C: before booting with the Ubuntu CD.

Yep. I have a dual boot here sharing the same hard drive. Basically, install Windows first. Then install Ubuntu. I just recently did this with 7.04. It went very smoothly.

There are lots of posts on the forum already about how to do it, so there's no need to duplicate it here.

okay.. I have made my decision.. Dual booting with a shared harddrive.. I just need to know how I can partition safely :)
