I wander through the neighborhood looking for hot spots. :)

Naw, I'm wired. I use the ethernet through a cable modem.

My router picks up signal from my microwave, which is plugged into a potato. It works pretty well, but the tinfoil hat I have to wear makes my hair sweaty. True story.

No, not really.

At a recent DUU Meeting...

Hi, I'm Dragonbite and .. um .. I'm a Dial-Up User.

(chorus)
Hi Dragonbite.

It started innocently enough and I had it under control for so long, but then ..
then I tried broadband at work.
At first I only tried a it once in a while; y'know, during breaks or lunch.
I got good at hiding my browser in ways nobody would catch me, even though there were some close calls.
But it didn't take long before the cravings started.
A little wasn't enough, I needed more.. More ... MORE!
I started stealing bandwidth from my cubical-mates after they left for home.
I even figured out how to steal wireless from the neighbor's house when they are out on vacation.
I used to stay at work long after everybody else have left for the day.
I was loosing sleep thinking about the next website I would look up,
or how to make Googling more pleasurable,
or what I was going to post next on the Ubuntu Forums.
I was insatiable! What I got from home wasn't enough.
I considered selling everything I had to pay for broadband! I even thought about selling the dog!
(crying)
I was out of control!
(*sob*)
And then(*sniff*)
... then, it happened.
It always happens
You can't hide from it, like your shadow, it follows you everywhere!
You begin taking unecessary risks, the thrill and speed was all that mattered
you know, like not checking things for viruii before running it,
or chatting with that a$^&$hole in Nigeria on the chance they may be legit.
and then...
(oh the horror)

you crash.

and it's all over.

We have a 10mb cable modem line and a 1mb Set Top Box connection....all wired.

My son uses the 1mb line and i share the 10mb line with the pc my girls use.No routers used so no neighbours signals but i pick a few up when i have a laptop in the house and my son picks them up on his psp.We actually informed a couple of our neighbours about there unsecured networks......the good ones anyway:)

Theres a lot of price wars going on just now between Sky and Virgin Media here in the UK and the Virgin 10mb service is currently being upgraded to 20mb....... to outdo Sky most likely:)

I`m currently seeing about 15mb ish on the various speedtests but no 20 as of yet.

Both my computers (PC and iMac) connect to the internet via ethernet. My iMac used to connect with our wireless router but I hard connected it because I don't want our information being broadcast 100 feet in every direction.

We connect the lappie through a wireless connection and the server and daughter's PC is wired.

Funny story, we just moved into this neighborhood and when we were moving in, I fired up the laptop to scan for any available wireless networks we could get on to check mail and such since our service was one day away from being hooked up. At that time there were three unsecured wireless networks, all of which I could log on to and surf from my home.

Since, My SECURED wireless network came online and I noticed that in the last two weeks that the others that were secure are now locked down.

No one knows that we run Linux here, I think that the fact that they started seeing a password protected network in the neighborhood was the good example for everyone to lock theirs down also.

Stupid story, I know.

Since I moved last week, I've been using the new neighbor's wireless, a network that is aptly named Garbage, because it likes to cut out every 5 minutes. I really dislike the cable company (Charter) that services our area, and I'm really frustrated at why they allow vendor lock-ins according to location? I dont want charter, I want comcast, but I cant get comcast, only charter. I should have the right to choose!!

Wireless is the bane of my existence (isp tech support) :(

I'd rather have ethernet cables all over the place than use wireless...
