Here's a problem that has been pestering my mind for months:

Years ago, there was a dance hit called "Uboontu" (note the double O), it featured a sample of Desmond Tutu explaining the concept of ubuntu and the word "uboonto" was repeated over and over. But i can't for the life of me remember who the performing artist was.

Can anybody help me remember? Please?

YES!!!! I've finally found it!
The song is by Lucky People Center and is called Ubuuntu, note the 2 "u"'s.

But i can do even better, i've scoured Google and found the following links:
http://www.tranceproject.com/audio_release/43429 (apparrently, you'll need to sign up if you want to listen to anything)
http://dvogonen.dyndns.org/music.php?music=/L.P.C_/Welcome%20To%20Lucky%20People%20Center/

The album it was on is called Welcome To Lucky People Center and was released in 1993.

Yeah, me happy! :)

Hi BM!

I'm sorry I'm seeing this post so late. I was actually going through my old mp3 collection when I came across this track, and as I'm a new user to ubuntu, it struck a chord! I was just about to post this info for anyone interested. My guess is it's no coincidence Tutu -> Mandela -> Mark Shuttleworth, though it would be interesting to see the exact thread.

You can do a wiki search on LPC to get more info, but I suggest you to see their technomentary self-titled, Lucky People Center International:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0148428/

If you're really interested, you can email them as they are quite friendly, in the ubuuntu spirit.

Happy Ubuntuing!
