Configuring stuff with Ubuntu really is a hard work if you are not lucky.

How about when it comes to your mobile phones, can you sync them with Ubuntu? If so, how do you sync them?

I can sync my Sony Ericsson D750i with Evolution (syncing of contacts, tasks and calendar entries) using Bluetooth.

Yes, its passible to sync you mobile, but its not easy. Ubuntu currently only supports syncronization with palm devices out of the box and if you want to sync anything else, you need to set it up your self.

Here is someting about it. If you search for "sync" in the wiki or in the forums, you might find more info and howto's :

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/MultisyncHowto?highlight=%28sync%29

If you are a big fan of syncing and perhaps need it for school, work (or just for fun). please follow these treads:

http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=413425&highlight=sync

http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=410076

We are here disgussing the passibility of making synconization easier for the next release. It would be great if you could leave a post describing your usecase, so that the devs perhaps would catch interest in this matter.

I have a motorola v550 and can connect to it from my laptop via bluetooth for the transfer of photos etc ...

I don't use evolution so I don't know if I can sync with my mobile. Might try sometime (when I am bored) :-)
