besides X.Org and XFree86?

I remember once stumbling by a site for a commercial alternative for X.Org, and I want to know more about such things, just for sheer curiosity :P

I don't know what it's called, but DSL uses a stripped down version of X

Xvesa is one, and I think TinyWM (or is it TinyX?) will run on it.

There's a deb of it on the Ubuntu Lite Google Groups page (http://groups.google.com.au/group/ubuntu_lite/files). It's fun to tinker with, even if it seems somewhat ... impractical.

directFB comes to mind now, but I don't know if that's the same thing. You know, that "links2 -g" or whatever thing.

If I remember correctly I thought NextStep had a linux variant too.
