Ok, first, you need to know that I built my User Interface completely from scratch with the ubuntu server edition. I want conky to tell me the percentage of battery life i have left, but i dont think i have the right monitors installed or something. The closest i can get is it telling me that the batter is "online" or "offline" --no percentage. ALSO i have a minor keyboard issue. When i type a quote, it doesn't show up unless i press space after it. and if i just press it once and then type a letter like 'e' or 'o' , it makes them into the hispanic accented version of the letter--something i don't really want at all. I do not have all the regular configuation files as I am running openbox alone with no gnome installed whatsoever (except for certain gnome programs here and there) please help me!

For the keyboard problem, first check so you really have the right layout setting, after that you might want to check out the nodeadkeys option available when running the x setup
(sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg)...
