ok, i don't get it, by all indicators that I have seen , linux is making good progress in all sectors, server, embedded, cluster, etc.

so why has google trends been falling for Linux over the last few years, it occurred to me that maybe people are doing more searches that are distro specific, but i don't see that it really accounts for the drop, any theories?

thanks.

My hypothesis is that as GoogleTrends represents the volume of searches relative to all searches, the rate of increase of non-Linux activity on the Web has outpaced that of Linux activity. In short, the Internet is supporting more and more activity that is not computing related.
