I subscribe to 4:

Known Adblock Plus subscriptions

Here is a list of subscriptions that are known to be still maintained. To subscribe to any of those in Adblock Plus 0.7.1.2 or higher simply click the “Subscribe” link and confirm — the filters will be added and updated automatically. Note that you should not subscribe to more subscriptions than you really need since this increases the possibility of legit content being blocked and might slow down your browsing.

1. EasyList General list with main focus on English-language sites. Maintainer: rick752. 4. Adblock Filterset.G Updater (https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/1136/)
What is Filterset.G?
Filterset.G is a set of filters for the Adblock extension for the Firefox browser. It is designed to eliminate most advertisements on the internet.

Easylist..no particular reason, other than a random choice on installation. (Try the Adblock plus: Element Hiding Helper, that works well at all that intellitxt stuff....I am sure you have it, I just found it!)

+1 for easylist

Didn't filterset.g project die? I thought I read that somewhere.

Do I need to install Filterset.G Updater?

No. Actually, it is recommended not to use Filterset.G with Adblock Plus. There are several reasons for this:

Filterset.G has been intentionally made incompatible with the built-in subscriptions feature in Adblock Plus, updating Filterset.G requires a separate extension which basically duplicates existing functionality.
Filterset.G is not optimized for use with Adblock Plus, it will slow down your browsing considerably more than any other filter list (http://adblockplus.org/en/subscriptions).
Filterset.G makes heavy use of very complicated regular expressions with the consequence that finding the source of problems is difficult and fixing those problems is even more so. In fact, Filterset.G is fixing most problems with exception rules which creates a problem on its own (see next point).
Filterset.G contains a considerable number of exception rules. This is a big problem because exception rules cannot be overridden. It happened on several occasions that exception rules from Filterset.G whitelisted actual ads making these ads unblockable — something users usually blamed Adblock Plus for. While Filterset.G has had its uses in the past, nowadays other filter lists (http://adblockplus.org/en/subscriptions) are certainly a better choice. If you already have Filterset.G Updater installed, you can uninstall the extension and remove the Filterset.G subscription in the Adblock Plus Preferences dialog. Feel free to choose any subscription from the list (http://adblockplus.org/en/subscriptions) then.

I've never really used, or felt the need to use, anything other than filterset.g. I haven't seen an ad in I don't know how long.

I use EasyList. I was amazed at how good it worked. It got rid of mostly everything especially those annoying in-line ads.
