I've seen so many similar posts and I've finally decided to ask.

I guess there's very few New Zealanders here, as New Zealand lags behind the rest of the world whenever it comes to technology related innovation... I mean, we still haven't unbundled the local loop, lol.

Yes, there are a few ubuntu users hiding out around the country, and a fairly quiet LoCo team too.

In the words of Sir Robert Muldoon, every time a New Zealander moves to Australia it raises the IQ of both countries.

Yeah, not many though. However that will change, my 12 year old step-brother has a REALLY REALLY old computer (which really sucks) that has Ubuntu.

... And anyway, he got broadband on that recently. I'll be sure to teach him stuff. So yes, the revolution is coming, just very slowly right now :) But people are learning. BTW, its a shame that most Linux users in NZ are in Aux. Very few of us in Chch, however there are quite a few people around in real life who use Linux down here.

A fun thing to do is check out the trademe forums, all the hardcore tech guys seem to be moving into Linux. Recently, some guy asked for help at removing a virus, then two guys came and and told him to use Linux :lolflag: If a 16 year old can get it running perfectly, then anyone should be able to... its just a matter of time. Linux can only get better. Windows can only get worse (its moving away from consumer demand)

I'm from Manurewa, Auckland. I've been using Ubuntu since about the beginning of this year.

This made me laugh, hadn't heard that one before:

In the words of Sir Robert Muldoon, every time a New Zealander moves to Australia it raises the IQ of both countries.

Yep, here's another Kiwi, from Chch too.
I have just converted in the last week or so, so I have a hell of a lot to learn yet. Hopefully I can get all the old M$ stuff working in WINE that's not available for Ubuntu elsewhere.
Still can't find my wireless network printer though, I know its out there somewhere.

Wellington here, PORIRUA ftw

Eeek I've been discovered. You're not spying on me, are you?

BTW, although Porirua is commonly referred to as part of the Wellington area (it is, geographically speaking) it's a city in its own right. It's a bit like calling Manukau city (lived there too, 25 years ago) part of Auckland.
