how should I go about making my own LiveCD? I want to make a custom LiveCD of a distro I install on my harddrive. Where should I start?

Linux from scracch is the only thing that i have heard of. Check out the wiki page.

You can download reconstructor from the repos, using Synaptic.

It's exactly what you want.

I believe that LinuxMint was constructed using it.
