I use a lot of Firefox extensions (probably too many).
Heres the list of extensions I use followed by a short description.

Adblock Plus: duh... blocks ads.
CustomizeGoogle: gets rid of google ads and a lot of other cool things.
DownloadThemAll!: A download manager
Fasterfox: Prefetches links in webpages etc to speed up Firefox. I know I shouldnt use this (but I do have it set to couteous)
FEBE: Makes a backup of my firefox extensions.
Flashblock: Blocks flash objects on webpages (If you want too see the flash object just click of the "F" symbol). Good for people like me with a low bandwidth.
Foxmarks: Backs up my bookmarks to a remote server (good for setting up multiple computers).
StumbleUpon: Choose topics that interest you and "stumble upon" web pages that fit the chosen descriptions.
Tab Mix Plus: Advanced oftions for tabs.
Ubuntu Forums Menu: Adds an item in the menubar with all the Ubuntu forums categories!
VideoDownloader: Good for downloading youtube videos etc.

I've got so many I made a whole web page (http://pointlessness.freehostia.com/2006/october/extensions.php) about them. It's outdated too, since I've just installed Mouse Gestures, bringing my total up to 21 extensions.

Other than the usual popular ones like Adblock Plus, Tab Mix Plus and Greasemonkey, my favorites:
- del.icio.us Bookmarks (http://del.icio.us): it rocks! Seamless integration, easy to add and search pages, I haven't been using Firefox bookmarks at all now :D
- Auto Copy (http://autocopy.mozdev.org) and Copy Plain Text (http://mozmonkey.com/): incredibly useful for moving chunks of text anywhere
- DownThemAll! (http://www.downthemall.net)
- Google Reader Notifier (http://www.markdbd.com/proyectos/google_reader_notifier/)

If I'm not in the office I'm on XP, so that's why I use it, but I believe there are security and performance advantages to blocking unwanted site Javascripts in Linux as well. For instance, this "Linux" site runs google-analytics scripts, presumably on Ubuntu users. I detest Google and their datamining spyware and I want to permanently opt-out of that process.

Re Linux's exaggerated "perfect" Internet security, I'm also not sure if Linux users are safe from PIEs or not; I haven't looked.

I'm glad i'm not the only one who considers " google-analytics " spyware. I all ways put them in my /etc/hosts file to be blocked. I use the mvp hosts block list, so there just 1 of many. :D

i'm shocked that someone doesnt deem it necessary to have the most powerful proactive security measure on their webrowser. when i think of javascript, i think 'mini' activeX, built for good, used for (increasing) evil.

I've pared mine down to only those that I could not live without (in the interest of better performance - from what I've seen, the more extensions enabled, the bigger FF's footprint is):

Adblock Plus

FireFTP

Hence the statement:

Favorite Extensions.

It's not much of a converstation if you list Flash, Quicktime, Java etc. Often you need them all wether you like them or not. :p

starcraft.man

Oh boy. I use quite a few here goes, with links:

Theme (not technically extension, but I added it :D): NoiaX (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/72)

Extensions:

Security:
No Script : (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/722)Blocks Java script and cross-site scripting at the source.
Ad Block Plus: (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1865) Fairly self evident, snap to filtering of ads and other assorted things.
Cookie Safe: (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/2497)Snap filtering of cookes and management.

Multimedia:
Downthemall: (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/201) Excellent download manager.
Ook? Video Ook! : (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/2584)Downloads flash videos.
Media Player Connectivity: (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/446)Allows for selective streaming of media embeded into any client of your choice on Desktop.
Download Statusbar: (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/26) Downloads appear in the status bar at bottom rather than separate screen, GREAT!

Miscellaneous:
Dictionary Switcher: (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/3414)Switches dictionaries, I use french and english.
Ubuntu Forums Menu: (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/2302)Gives a menu for browsing and moving to all forums at a click.
Tab Mix Plus: (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1122)Provides excellent additional functionality and control to tab mix plus.

Optional (I don't always use these, some might like them):
Customize Google: (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/743)Allows for customization of google services and pages.
Googlepedia: (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/2517)Cuts your page when searching in half and loads google results on left, wikipedia on right.
Fasterfox: (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1269)Contains network tweaks and performance changes, some find improvement with it.

That is it. I use a lot of extensions, I have more but those are the more important ones I have. Enjoy! :D.

Oh and yes, coding that list to look right took a while with all the links >.>. I'm off to supper, hopefully I see one or two new ones I haven't tried when I come back from eating.;

The number one reason I use FF over any other browser is because of the extensions.

Most Used:
Adblock Plus w/ Adblock Filterset.G Updater
All-in-One Gestures (no practical use, just cool)
Colorful Tabs
Download statusbar
Fission
Flashblock
FoxyTunes

Helpful:
Ctrl Tab Preview
Dictionary Tooltip
English (Australian) Dictionary
Forecast Fox
IE Tab
Undo Closed Tabs Button

Others:
Image Zoom
PDF Downloader
Remove It Permanently
Temporary Inbox
translator

Installed due to this forum:
CustomizeGoogle
CuteMenus2

Tiny Menu

(I have not experienced FF slowing down because of all these extensions)

I can't believe almost no one uses the Web Developer Toolbar. I also use FireBug, of course as it's a holy grail for any web developer (not many web devs around it seems). The poor performance of some WBT features (Page Mangifier) on Linux is what still keeps me on Windows XP.

Hello Everyone,

I developed one myself that I thought you might like, called Visual Search. See a 2 minute demo here:
http://www.visual-search.net/Visual%20Search%202/Visual%20Search%202.html

Get the extension on the Firefox add-ons page here:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/5309

If you have any comments or suggestions for this extension please let me know.
