Hi
I'm planning on setting up a website on my system. And I need to install LAMP (or LAPP) for this purpose. I'm in the process of chosing the best (and easy to manage) Linux distro. I'm a beginner and have heard a lot of good things about Ubuntu but only in desktop environment. I have not heard much about Ubuntu server edition. Conversely, I've heard a lot of positive things about Debian as a server distro. Can anyone help me make this decision.

Thanks

Rocky

Debian provides rock solid stability. That's why it takes them so long to get a release out the door. Debian has far more supported packages. In terms of ease of use, there isn't really any difference from a server point of view.

Debian is especially good if you want to run a server on older hardware.

FreeBSD ? They are probably the webservers with the longest uptime out there and serving massive loads.
