A few years back I saw this commercial here (http://youtube.com/watch?v=QOlrKH3SmtI). At the time I had no idea what Linux was. But now that I know what Linux is I think it is a great ad! I know it is by IBM, and they are not always going to promote Linux. But what happened, and why are there no more on TV?

I think promoting Ubuntu on TV would give us a lot more people to come to Ubuntu.

TV adverts are for when you want to target home users; the only people that want to target home users is Ubuntu, Mandriva and possibly Novell*; the first two have not much money and the second is too busy with it's server business to care too much about TV mainstream.

What we need is a billion pound advert budget to get linux adverts on every tv in the world; I'll wait for you to take our your wallet.

* Redhat and IBM are not in the home markets.

We all have an opportunity to give linux, and maybe even Ubuntu a chance at mainstream advertising. Check the link, and make a donation. http://www.lobby4linux.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=36&Itemid=2 When you make a donation you select which distro you a donating on behalf, and the one that gets the most donations gets prime realestate on the car.

This is our chance to make a difference.

Didnt IBM have its own OSs untill windows 2.0 did multi tasking before it.
