fullcircle #0 - FINAL BETA!

Font problem on w2k/Adobe Reader 8.0 is now fixed. Both two pieces of text look fine and I didn't notice any new problems. I also read the Feisty chapter and it was good. It's a fine release candidate - no late patches from me.

Excellent. The only thing I can see wrong is that the creative commons logo is blurry, when zoomed in... Do we need a higher res one? also I think it needs t link to the licence page. Other than that, very good. Wel done!

Its weird; I still keep seeing Ubuntu as this new distro, just out recently, yet reading the version history Im reminded just how old it really is. Scary stuff. :D

I expected more. Germans have their Ubuntu magazine for a year or so. It is full of information and interesting interviews with Ubuntu developers.

Seems great! Maybe we could get someone to translate some articles, if they're licensed in a way that it's permitted. Is it a net publication? Could you give us a link?

you should keep in mind that we've only had about 2 weeks since this whole thing started. considering that i think we're doing quite well. :p
and is it just a coincidence that the fullcirclemagazine website looks exactly like theirs or... :D

We better contact them. ;D That's funny! I think they have a very good taste. Also the magazine looks something I'd definitely read regularly. Lots of content. But it also takes huge amounts of work to do that and personally I'm very pleased to see FullCircleMagazine. It's a different approach (at this point), but it's (almost) out, it exists and I liked the theme of introducing Ubuntu history through a very visual tour. Naturally one can't please everyone, but that's very much like free software - you get to choose. And to participate, if you choose so.

Oh! And maybe FullCircleMagazine should link to different free software magazines?

I sometimes read this:

It's looking great, guys. A request though; You seem to be doing really great work and putting out in PDF format. Personally, I've never been able to work efficiently with PDF on Linux. So, how are you doing it? Would you guys mind putting out a tutorial on how you create the magazine, theme it, put it all together, and make it work in PDF?

Perhaps that could be an article in your next issue? At any rate, I'm really interested because I want to be able to work with PDF, since it is an open format now.

I intend to write a six part tutorial on using Scribus.

Scribus is what I use to create the entire magazine in. I'm no expert with it - i admit - but i know enough about it to output a PDF magazine (as you can probably tell by now! :D )

ronniet, you should set up an rss feed somewhere, so I (and others) can aggregate it and know when a new one comes out.

Yep, all these things and more will be on the site.

Be extra careful with phpBB. Not exactly the most secure message board out there. Keep eye on security updates and apply them immediately or your forum will get "owned".

it looks really really good :D well done!

i haven't been able to use ubuntu since breezy because it's not compatable with my hardware. :(

i'll try the new version when it comes out though, i don't know what i'd do if it works i really like suse now because i prefer the suse repos (when i've added the extra ones i like that add 100s maybe 1000s of packages, because all the packages are kept up to date with the latest stuff.

BTW, you can use this great little program to burn ISOs in windows -
http://www.snapfiles.com/get/burncdcc.html

i think it's even a standalone - none install too, as far as i remember you can just right-click any iso and select burn to dvd/cd with it, i only have linux so i can't check :|
