Awesome site. Would definatly want to see more software and screens. I'm a visual person, and visuals help me learn. Maybe you might wanna link the pictures so those with slower internet don't have to wait to see them load. Keep it up. :)

to develop a model to support and sustain open source development.

But there is already a model. And look at it! Windows was the primary desktop environment and linux had a tiny few users. Yet here we are a decade hence and windows is actually trying to CATCH UP to the power of the linux desktop! Looks prety sustainable from here. The better it gets the more users it has, the more users the more people creating new code and repairing old code.

There are milliions of users and businesses which use open source software,if all of them can contribute a small amount it will really help sustain open source software.

But they already contribute. They contribute just by using it, because when they use open source code they need the services of open source geeks. Those geeks get jobs and demand for services. The more that use open source software the more open source geeks get employed.

The software is owned by us not by them. You cannot "buy" ownership of open source software: the only way to "own" any part of it is by contributing your own work to the community tool chest. That's it - if you don't contribute work, you have no stake in the community.

They pay for "our software" every time they hire one of us to support it. It's like hiring a mechanic in a shop; you don't "donate" money to help him buy his tools, he owns his tools; his tools are his life. A mechanic's value is in part determined by the tools he brings to the job.

We have better tools.
