Well I'm not too technical but I I find these things below I do are cool to me... lol

1. Create designs, logos, banners and wallpapers plus photo retouching with Photoshop

3. Create 2 hour music show every week for Generation Mix with Audacity

5. Chat to people from all over the world
6. Customize the look and feel of a desktop pc
7. Control all of my music, videos, contacts, notes, etc.. on one device or more!
8. Create presentations, forms and letters in a proffesional manner
9. Create websites (even earn money if lucky)

I usually just download torrents of my favorite TV shows (don't worry, I pay for satellite TV that I don't use), but this link is AWESOME.

I just clicked on Doctor Who (I just got into it - best. show. ever.), chose an episode, and within five seconds, I had the intro! I was worried after seeing another user say that it took a long time to load - must be a problem there.

Top 12 things:

1. Watch TV, Joost. (linux version comming soon)
2. Video editing with Premiere Elements. (no realistic alternative yet, but LIVES looks promising)
3. Photoshop Elements (no real alternative for linux.)
4. Learn Languages with Rosseta Stone (no real alternative for linux)
5. Listen to music with MusikCube (Songbird is a good alternative, but still under developement.)
6. Download with uTorrent (still no client for linux that meets this kind of standard.)
7. Surf the web with IE7 (although firefox is good, i can live with it.)
8. Watch video with Media Player Classic (Best video player ever, but vlc dose come close)
9. Visit sites with Shockwave, (dreadfull that theres no linux version)
10. OpenOffice
11. Games! (very limited commercial support for linux)
12. CAD (AutoCad, Catia, SolidWorks...no real alternatives for linux.)


Although latest release of Ubuntu has surpassed xp and vista in many ways, there is still the fact that Adobe dosent support linux enough. And plug-ins & applications like shockwave, photoshop and premiere elements are a must for any home user who likes to get a little creative. CAD support is another problem, many people live offa that software, Dassault Systèmes is another of those companies that needs to be more supportive.

Games are also good, but i prefer consoles for that purpose. Although nothing beats PC att strategy games, although i believe that as linux gets more users, gamemakers will consider it as a platform as well.

Ill have to wait a while before totally switching over, although i believe that eventually linux will dominate the market, but for now windows xp 64x dose the job well. the only thing really missing for linux are some of the major applications.

1. Setting up a home network with two desktop computers, wireless for the laptop in the living room, the 360 and the wii for having fun and the old modded xbox as a media center on the projector. Have everything comunicate so anyone can watch or listen to whatever they want from all computers or media center.

4. Trying out new fun programs with linux.
5. Getting OSX to work on a non-mac.
6. Spending time on ubuntu forums.
7. Collecting friends like a drunk on facebook. (I guess this does not count as cool :) )

1) recycle it! dust off that otherwise landfill junk, and put ubuntu on it
2) run state of the art OS like ubuntu on ancient legacy hardware
3) take the 'broken laptop', rip off the dead LCD, plug in a monitor and turn it into the smallest desktop computer with built-in keyboard and trackpad. Oh yea and put ubuntu on it.
4) take that hand me down, POS computer that no one wants, put ubuntu on it and give it to a kid who's always wanted to have his/her own computer
5) pull out all the working parts from that dead POS junk that no one want and reuse it elsewhere-->add that 64mb memory chip to boost another 64mb machine to 128mb, or take that old HD and put it into an external HD box...
6) post messages on Ubuntuforums.org to remind people that the coolest thing about Ubuntu is that it's an amazing tools to help people recycle, reuse, and REDUCE our need to buy newer latest and greatest hardware just to keep up with the new version of m$ windoz.
7) use practically ancient linux commands like dd to do jobs for friends who are disparately in need of a PC technician to help them back up their stuff.
8) delete your windoz partition... god that feels good
9) visit ubuntuforums.org to read tons of awesome topics shared by the greatest support community on the planet.
10) put ubuntu on it, and find yourself becoming really inspired

6) Turn an old Pentium 133 into a very useable jukebox holding 2000 songs on 3 DVDs (running DSL)

Is it illegal(not that it matters) to watch these shows, if you don't save them and have sattelite TV so have access to them anyway, it would appear I already pay for access to the shows, watching them online is just easier access
