If I install wubi, can I always remove it in xp:s add/remove program. Is there any risk what it mess up xp? Does it mostly work on machines that you can install ubuntu on?

There is a risk with any software ;)

But wubi is much safer than running a native installer, and it left my XP fine and untouched when I uninstalled it. Ive now got it working but had to move the installed files for some reason.

I would not consider wubi more riskful than installing a windows application. What it could potentially **** up is your c:\boot.ini, but that should be unlikely, and somewhat easy to fix with a decent boot-CD that can access NTFS partitions. And theyre pretty easy to find nowadays.

So, short answer: don't worry! But also don't expect any sort of warranty ;)

@Sandos

So, can you show us one of these decent boot-CDs that can access NTFS partitions?
If they are so many around like you said, can you suggest a few?

Wubi is 100 % safe so far, we had zero system breakdown report.

Wubi can't break your boot.ini file. Hello1024 made a very robust code about that part and it is totally reliable.

Famous last words? ;)

But yes, if you tell me the code is robust, I will trust you on it. :)

A boot cd that can acess NTFS?

Knoppix seems to do it:

Sabayon does it too:

Outstanding NTFS support in read/write mode thanks to NTFS-3G 1.0

Other than that, linuxtracker.org should have a few more that does this.
