It's just another proof to show that Ubuntu is the most popular Linux distro up to date, cheers :-). Hopefully Dell will also pick Ubuntu as the pre-installed distro of choice.

Yup, I hope also, I personal think Ubuntu is nearly ready for your average home user, just needs that little push.

I've got a virtual server with them and its stuck on FC2. It would be great if they could update those to Ubuntu too.

it's just one of those things, the tech has been there now the business case is catching up. I remember someone way back when saying that open source and free software (both sides of the technical and political coin) will be what everyone uses in the future simply because any other way would be inefficient, costly, dangerous and less agile; the business case was that floss keeps a business honest, it keeps people honest and they then have to compete on service quality, status and community standing and price.

Something to do with it being the natural step of a cooprative capitalism or some such.

When I first clicked on the link the OP provided I thought this was another spam thread. But if you follow the links on the site you get this:

http://www.123-reg.co.uk/dedicated-server-hosting/

This explains it a bit better.

Sad, makes you wonder what level of service you would get. You can have the best product in the world but if the service sux then you are kinda wsting your time.

Kinda famously bad. I haven't had to have support yet but I've heard horror stories. It is Pipex after all.

Concur with the previous post that their customer support is attrocious.
But if you do not encounter any problems then they are one of the cheapest.
Please be aware that your Ubuntu system will be running in a chroot-jail and that you will not have access to all parts of the system.
