Here's an idea I had which would really boost the productivity of the Ubuntu Community...

-The next time you have a problem that you need help with, fair enough, ask about it on the forums and wait for a reply. When you're satisfied with the fix/solution...

... - Consider an area that you're good at in terms of knowledge, find a thread where someone is asking for help, and help them yourself. This way, you are giving back to the community after you've taken away.

Now, I'm sure lots of people already do this, but I have to admit that it's extremely rewarding and fun.

What say you? :)

i don't mean to be a drag... but everybody's been doing this for some time now. i think since the forums started.

You've pretty much described how the forums are supposed to work anyway. Sure, you're going to get the occasional user that just posts questions and doesn't help in return, but that's not a huge drain on a community this large.

For some people, helping others is its own reward, they don't have to be told to do it.
