so why did you chose ubuntu and not kubuntu ect and what is the different form them all
i using ubuntu at the moment

The only difference between them is the desktop environment they install by default.

I chose to use Ubuntu because I wanted to give Gnome a good shot. I had only use KDE environment previously. So far I am liking it a lot better. I am still a huge newb to linux though.

I didn't know the others existed until after I got Ubuntu.

ok thank you for that as there is no realy different to xubuntu then ubuntu i going to stay with it

dont now why i did not use before
going to take a wail to get use to but when it do it going to rock :guitar: :guitar: :guitar: :guitar:
dont think i will login in to windows very much at all

One you may not really like: it looks and feels a bit like Windows so it makes switching easier.
About 10 years ago, I experimented with the KDE GUI but at that time it was a true challenge for my Windows-based mind...
I hope you can enjoy Ubuntu. It's great fun!

i am very happy with ubuntu at the moment i have all my hardware working on it and my USB stuff
i just miss some of the windows programs that i cant run in ubuntu
but i am sure i will find new ons that are just as good
looking into running wine runingto run a few of the but looking to getting win4lin and berly
i just love it ubuntu rocks out over windows :guitar: :guitar: :guitar: :guitar: :guitar: :guitar:

You can always try to set up Wine... might work for a number of your Win-progs.

It is easy to administer and works great and looks very polished.
