laptop: whatever the Darter will have when I buy it :)
desktop: 1400x1050, because that's the highest that my crappy old CRT monitor can handle. I want 1600x1200, and hopefully will be buying an LCD monitor over the summer that can support it :)

2048x768 Split over one 15" LCD monitor and one 21" TV
15" LCD was hot stuff back when I bought it and I intend to ride it into the ground. All my roommates have larger, newer monitors with crazy high resolutions, but I'm fine with my setup.

1280X1024 on windows and ubuntu
(I've actually got to admit it was easier for me to setup the screen resolution in ubuntu than in windows, if I include the whole ati driver mess I had to deal with...)

1280 x 960 on Ubuntu Dapper Destop (P4 1.8 GHz)
800 x 600 Ubuntu Fiesty Laptop (Celeron 400 yes it old but Fiesty makes it run like new)
1024 X 768 Windows NT 4.0 (P200)
720 x 350 (monochrome) Windows 3.1 (286)

Desktop: 3840x1024 (triple-head, 19" LCD center and 17" LCDs to either side! :D )
Laptop: 1600x1200 15" LCD (oooh, gorgeousness!)
So what's up with laptop screens nowadays? The resolutions have gone DOWN! My shiny new work laptop with the highest-res Dell offered on the line is only (I think) 1400x1040 or somesuch. And I think the widescreen bites! I want VERTICAL, people! VERTICAL resolution!

I'd go higher if my monitor could support it, but monitors above that are either huge, expensive or both.
