I have Ubuntu 4.10 warty, with wine and wine.setup installed via Synaptic's universe repositories (too much a noob to really try the CVS Wine install job listed under tutorials :-? ). I was able to install photoshop 5.5 and Daz Studio 9.20.9 without a hitch.
Photoshop was first and primarily to prove wine could run it; being frugal/cheap/poor I actually learned Gimp first and prefer it. But Daz is another story- for those unfamiliar it is a free alternative to Poser, and just as functional. Linux/opensource has many options in graphics, my hobby; Gimp->Photoshop, Sodipodi->Illustrator, Blender for 3D modeling. No native Linux Poser clones though, so if that's your bag the wine option is your only option.
Since I found no references to this anywhere on either the Linux or the Poser forums online, I wanted to let folk know it's easy and painless- and one more reason to let go of Window$.
