LInux apparently interferes with the warranty

i read this article, taken from slashdot.org of course:D:http://enterprise.linux.com/article.pl?sid=07/03/23/1430204&from=rss
the only explenation i have is that the people in charge of repairing the computer don't know how to open up linux and type some letters to see if the keyboard is working. other than that it's just not right. especially since this is hp, a company who from what i know supports the open-source movement. hell, they even have their own unix os.
your thoughts?

it could be a subconscious tendency to dismiss some inquiries
for assistance as coming from do-it-yourself practitioners.
One possible way to soften this reaction is remember/remind
that they also have dual/multiple boot systems out here as well. :-k
