Debian has plenty of "children" distros (http://www.debian.org/misc/children-distros) based on it, including ours obviously. Well, what about grandchildren? Ubuntu has only been around a little while but I know of at least two distros built on Hoary.

Gnoppix - http://www.gnoppix.org/

Molinux - http://www.molinux.info/ (in Spanish - from the gov't of Castilla-La Mancha)

Any more (K)ubuntu sons or daughters out there?

i would really like to start work on ubuntu/gnoppix std however i do not have the time at the moment to work on this distro, but it certainly would be a great help to have this distro... knoppix std is great but it is rappidly becoming outdate for many things...

Guadalinex 2004 is based on Debian. Ubuntu will be the base for the next one, Guadalinex 2005. Is that right?

I found this notice (http://www.ubuntulinux.org/guadalinex) on it. Any idea when the 2005 edition will be ready?

BeatrIX does indeed look like it's a daughter. This is what the developer said when he was on here a few months back.

Greets,

I'm the developer of BeatrIX, so let me tell you what we did and maybe that'll help or not, I dunno.

We started out by using the Knoppix boot loader, then straight into Debian.

For the release that, well, just got released (This is our second release; the first was a live-CD only.), we use Knoppix to boot into Ubuntu and for hard drive install we use a script we modified from the Kanotix distribution, which is another Knoppix derivative. After installed to hard drive, it's Ubuntu start-to-finish, I believe.

Cheers,
