I'm talking about the one that lets you listen to a music file simply by hovering your mouse pointer over the music file in a file browser. Any thoughts?

it is a nautilus (file manager) plugin. Under edit-preferences select preview tab- soundfiles (local files only)

You need to have mpg123 installed for it to work.

You need to have mpg123 installed for it to work.thank you, that's why it wasn't working simply by enabling it in nautilus.

You're welcome. You can also get ogg files to preview too by installing vorbis-tools. I love that feature. Enjoy:)

i disabled it. a couple times, i hovered over a file and it wouldn't stop playing. i had to turn the computer off (even restarting X didn't stop it)
