This idea just hit me:
I'm one of those linux newbies, I recently installed feisty fawn, got my 6600gt working with beryl, etc... but this got me thinking
A lot of people (like me) are starting to leave microsoft products in favor of linux, and its REALLY frustrating to have compatiblity problems just because the hardware companies wont help when it comes to linux
As ubuntu (and linux in general) popularity grows for the desktop user who needs an intuitive, easy interface, a hardware demand for webcams, scanners, printers and hardware components grow
So if lets say, one company started supporting linux, a ton of people would give preference to their products over other companies, its a virgin market methinks.
So why has no one done it yet? open source is great, and i understand why many software companies look down upon linux, but hardware? everyone needs hardware, be that windows of linux, and open source doesnt hurt them, and with the growing demand i think its time for someone to step up to the task and bask in the growing market of linux users.
