This may be old news, but the CDs I just got today say 'Version 6.10 for your PC".

Mac and 64 bit versions still say 6.06 LTS.

It's pretty weird that they're just starting to do this, considering 7.04 is almost done? Wouldn't it make more sense to ship that instead (a month from now)?

Remember, Dapper Drake was the Long-term release. I really figured they wouldn't even bother sending Edgy or Feisty as CDs at all.

Also, I noticed that they usually make the version before the newest release free.

Since the next version comes out soon, this makes sense.

My guess:

It was never intended for Edgy to be shipped for free, but it was shipped for a small fee. Now that they are going to offer Feisty, no one will want to pay for Edgy, so they'll just send the surplus for free until there are no more Edgy CDs.

You do not HAVE to buy anything. You may download the iso, request free shipit cd's, OR purchase from online retailers who sell Ubuntu CDs. I just came from the ShipIt pages, so I could see for myself.

You can download or have shipped 6.06 or you can download 6.1. It states that ShipIt is only for older version, 6.06

Did the site say you were getting 6.10 cds? It says now that you get 6.06 LTS.
