I have installed ubuntu 6.10 now twice second time it went easier.
Its up dated and the system seams happy. I have 2 x printers
HP 1020 and Epson Stylus cx4100 both got picked up by ubuntu and
was loaded no problem its just they wont print sends the jobs but does not
print. The scanner part works fine on the cx4100. And I don't know how to
load a PDF printer any help and advice shall be appreciated I LOVE the OS.

Hi there!

"its just they wont print sends the jobs but does not
print. " - A little more info would be great!

"And I don't know how to
load a PDF printer" - Well this one is easy, :), in openoffice there is a default option for printing to PDF.

Hope I can help you some more!

Cheers,

Rudolf

PS: no problems with posting here but you might get a load more help if you post in the Absolute Beginners or General help section.

Before my up date all my printers worked fine.
Now the jobs or test page just does not get sent to the printers.
Other wise they get picked up if I unplug and replug them in.
I read some ware I have to fix the permissions or some thing
Other say the bug has been fixed. I just now rebooted with the live CD
and all my printers worked fine :) But now with the installed version
Ubuntu 6.10 and updated The jobs gets sent but no printing.
I am sure its a small problem but as a NEWBIE to ubuntu its drives me nuts.
I installed the PDF Printer but it prints nothing as well it just creates a BLANK
pdf file that includes the test page.

Thax 4 all the help and interest

Regards
Victor:confused:

Hi Victor,

Like I said before - you might and probably will find more help in the general help section.

Anyway, have you tried to remove the printer from the manager, restart Ubuntu and then reinstall it. This is common in windows where you plug the printer into a different USB port while the default printer is set on the original port. It might be that Ubuntu missed the port or that it got changed. Reinstalling the printer might help.

Cheers,

Rudolf

as rudolf suggested, you should try post this problem on the main ubuntuforum, responses there will be extremely quick (responses within a minute or 2, literally).

we would love to help you, but you cant compare our knowledge between the 50 of us with the knowledge of the other 200 000 ubuntuforum users. i would recommend you place this question under the "absolute beginner" section, as those seem to get answered the quickest.

hope you get better help than we could offer ;)
hope you run into some good luck and stick with ubuntu.

My donner!

Ek sit in Slaapstad, en geniet my Ubuntu-masjien moerse baie.
