To be honest, it hasn't impressed me too much. The shows they have available now aren't that great but I assume that will get better if Joost gets more popular. But I will say that their interface is very clean and smooth. One of the best I've seen in a while.

Joost is still in beta. There is absolutely no reason for there to be good content right now.

and....

Goodbye, television. Hello, Joost

Niklas Zennstrom and Janus Friis have been talking about the idea behind Joost™ for a long time - even before their last venture, Skype, was born. But to make it work, they needed the right combination of factors - widespread broadband and powerful computers in particular. In early 2006, the time was right. Gathering the world's best engineers, web gurus and media visionaries, they started work under the code name of The Venice Project™ - and now, after much fretting and polishing, that work is ready for public viewing.
In under a year, we've grown from a handful of people to more than 100, establishing offices in five countries. Already, Joost™ is a truly global venture, serving a truly global community. It's still early days for us, but Joost™ is getting bigger and better every day - and we're still waiting for it to become self-aware...
Keep in touch with the latest developments on our blog (http://www.joost.com/blog/) and press release (http://www.joost.com/press/) section.

This is made by the Devs. who created Skype....so I trust it will be successful:

I hope their Linux support isn't as "good" as it was for Skype :p

Don't get me wrong. Once the content comes (be it the actual release or whenever) then it shall be great.

I do wonder whether it's apparent exclusivity (I don't know anyone who's managed to get an account) lends something to the excitement about the service. I have the terrible feeling that I am going to have to do some spoofing to convince the site that I'm in a country that is able to receive the content though (I doubt that UK users will be allowed to access the content on the site). It does look terribly slick though :) Perhaps some concepts that the BBC could nick when they start making programmes available for streaming after broadcast perhaps... oh and of course if anyone does have an invite then you can get me at:

joost AT pste DOT co DOT uk

thx :)

I've got a few invites, but I haven't been able to find the friggin' invite button since they did the redesign...

I must be RETARDED. I've been looking for weeks to give it to my friend.
