View Full Version : Very interesting Slashdot Quote

Doug,

If you weren't aware of it before, you probably know it by now. Anything interesting or useful that rears its head on Slashdot will likely be ripped to shreds by what has quickly become the nets most vicious and petty peanut gallery.

Slashdottians know nothing, they accomplish nothing, and their opinions are worth nothing. They are uniformly bitter, small-minded geeks who overestimate their own importance and their own skillz. They are, for the most part, losers. Their biggest accomplishment is in insulting others' spelling and grammar, attacking the GPL license despite their grade level understanding of it, and tricking people into clicking on goatse.cx links. They are know-it-all blowhards who use their computers primarily for Pornography and online gaming, at which they cheat regularly to offset their complete lack of motor skills.

Despite touting the wonderous greatness of linux and open source, they all use Windows and Internet Explorer. They like Macs because of OSX, but want it to run on X86 so they can steal a copy and give nothing back. They will eventually buy a Mac due to their inability to run Windows without crashing it constantly by their own stupidity, and become raving unbalanced lunatics who do more harm than good for the Mac community by claiming that the G4 is quadruple the speed of a dual 3Ghz Xeon box.

They lie about their own experience to make their case, and when you win an argument with them, they post anonymously in order to tell you they've had sex with your mother.

Don't become a regular here, you will become retarded.

Signed,
Yoda the Retard

I think this true for more then just slashdot, but digg, and even the ubuntu cafe section.

lets hear what you have to say.

What about it? Sure it holds true for a lot of users in a lot of places. It's nothing new and nothing surprising.....It occurs often in varying degrees of intensity.

Perhaps I'm missing the point here...I'm certainly not trying to be rude, but what are we supposed to be commenting on?

So... Are you trying to tell me I am retarded for visiting the Ubuntu Cafe?

I think most forums have been like this since they first came about. Isn't that kind of the point? A chance, thanks to anonimity, to bitch and moan about whatever you want, even if it is someone else posting.

I dont think the ubuntu cafe is like the article above describes at all... the mods are always very quick to pick up on people stearing thinks in that direction which is great to see.

I used to read slashdot back in the hayday but it's not worth reading any more. better to subscribe to new scientist and read grocklaw and the register.

As for the community; well we're all just human animals and one thing people constantly forget is that we may be nice, caring individuals one second and be raving, no nothing lunatics the next just because out tea was cold and we slipped getting out of the shower.

And that's not even getting into the whole herd theories of which there are many and varied.

Thats one of the reasons I like Ubuntu Forms, the people here are less vitriolic most of the time and know when to bite their tongue (not always but most) and as has always been the case the way you are treated in a community effects how you will act and visa versa.

I blame Asyu for all the good vibes.

The quote really isn't that interesting.

Why are you quoting a comment posted on Slashdot over five years ago?
