Mac OS X is Unix-like, like Linux, but it's built on the Darwin kernel, whereas Linux uses its own kernel. So they really don't have a whole lot in common. Beyond that, I suppose Mac applications could be run on a virtual machine, but it would require using a hacked copy of 10.4, as that's the only way you're ever going to run OS X on non-Apple hardware.

Running Mac OS X on a generic x86 machine does require a hacked copy of OS X. However, the unmodified Macintosh operating system can be run on a Linux-based virtual machine, as long as the host computer has a PowerPC processor. Even generic PPC machines will work.

Can't you run a non-hacked OSX with PearPC?
