macro/addin for openoffice calc

I've read through the documentation distributed with OpenOffice and for the life of me I can't figure out had to build addins of custom spreadsheet functions in Calc. I'm sure it's benignly simple, but I can't figure it out. I have a lot of engineering formlae that I'd love to build into OpenOffice. I know most people will be offended I even put this under "Programming", but it's the closest category I've found.
