Hello All
I am new to Ubuntu, having ussed RedHat and Fedoracore for some years.
I dont know if this is the correct forum for my thread, if not please let me know where to post to.
I installed Breezy, 8 months ago and found the Ubuntu delight that everyone talks about.
I have encouraged a few windows user friends to look at Linux and obtained copies of the Canonical give away Ubuntu disks.
I installed Edgy but cannot get it to talk to my isp.
I use identical username and password for login but recieve an % Authentucation failure message.
I ran pppconfig.
I checked /etc/ppp/pap-secrets and chap-secrets. I checked the wvdial.config and have identical password and user in there.
wvdial connects to the modem and dials out but reports % Authentication failure which seems to indicate a divverence between chat, wvdial and *-secrets where non exists
Further I cannot give copies to friends who have no idea about a terminal and wvdial which is very 1980's but would rely on the simple mouse click procedure like was in Breezy but does not work in Edgy.
