So many people say they love discussions about good software, so if this and the title describe you, can you help out with something?
I've just started a software page in the User Documentation here:

Time permitting, I'm covering the basics first and will then go back over them and pad them out. But if anyone has any particular favourites or knows a project well, could you help out? It'd be really appreciated and it'd help out a lot.
You'll get the gist of it if you have a look around.
