installing java 6.0 [Archive]

i need help installing java 6.0, im new to linux and the documentation says i need to use the command fakeroot which when i use it the system says it doesn;t not exist. can someone please help?

Get it from SUN, maybe use the steps outlined in the tutorial included in my sig.
