DirectX in VMWare

Apparently VMWare is making some major strides towards being able to use DirectX in their beta VMWare Fusion product for OSX:

Does anyone know if this is indicative of something we'll be seeing in VMWare on our linux desktops or if VMWare Fusion is solely a Mac-oriented project? Either way this offers hope for hardware accelleration... I think.

I know at one point VMware was working on 3D acceleration for one of its products for Linux, but I don't remember which product it was, and it was highly experimental.

It may be experimental, but then again so is Compiz Fusion, and it is used quite a bit from what I read about it.
