Whats up with fakeraid support?

The immediate obvious advantage of supporting bios assisted software raid is the ability to continue to boot the system through the logical device!!

E.G. you have a remot system with a lower end intel SATA raid solution. an MD device will not properly boot after a failed primary disk, where as the bios assisted fakeraids will.

IMO the advantage of this is clear, why do linux distros seem to intentionally build the capability out of their distros??? with ubuntu, while I administer several ubuntu boxes and support it, it seems like you have to jump through hoops like crazy to support fakeraid. For the love of god, why not just build it in and save everyone a load of freaking work!
