I have just had a corospondance with the UK's Office of Fair Trading (OFT) about being unable to buy a new laptop in the UK without Windows on it. Usual story, I had to buy a new laptop with Windows and then refused the EULA, deleted Windows and installed Edgy. Their response was that they don't see it as an important enough issues to commit resources to investigating.

I was just wondering what folks thoughts are on trying to use the OFT (this is meant to be a free market economy after all) as a way of defeating the MS tax? And if anyone else has been in contact with the OFT in the UK or their own country?

I haven't read anything about the open source community lobbying the OFT, but I can't believe the the Free Software Foundation or others have not tried this avenue!
